The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Arizona State University was created in 1993 to give students the ability
to tailor their own degree. This unique program allows students to integrate two different fields of study into one degree,
enabling them to obtain a broader educational spectrum. This degree provides students with four Bachelor of Interdisciplinary
Studies classes specifically created to provide students with an avenue to see the connections between their two selected
fields of study, as well as enabling them to obtaining 18 credit hours each for the two selected concentration areas.

My Pursuit of an Interdisciplinary degree began when I first started school at Arizona State University. Like many students
freshly graduated from high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my college career. After a two year exploration
I had come to realize what my interests were, and decided the School of Letters and Sciences could provide me with the best
education through their Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Being in this program actually opens a lot doors for
Arizona State University students. The endless list of study options to choose from allows each student to walk away with
their own "personalized" degree. Since I already had an interest in business, it was only natural to select it
as one of my fields of study. My second choice was selected because I wanted a broader concentration that did not limit my
applications in the real world. Pairing business and communications together was the perfect choice for me since both can
be applied to a wide range of career fields. What makes a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies so appealing is its versatility
and ability to provide the exact education a student wants. A degree through this program can prepare a student for many
different job fields instead of just one localized area.
